Out of curiosity, how many of you have a training or a specialty? It doesn't have to be necessarily related to combat or weapons, of course, but being able to drink everyone on the Barge under the table - though commendable - doesn't count.

[She imagines combat/weapon-related ones will be the most popular, but she'd still like to know how much of a diversity (or lack thereof) there is.]

Out of further curiosity, what is it?

[There are enough smart-asses on board she thinks would just say they have training and leave it at that.]

And for those that don't have any, why not?

...You discounted mine right off the bat. I should be 'urt. You'd be amazed what you can achieve by drinking the right people under the right tables, Polly love.

I'm a double doctorate; I got my M.D. and my PhD, and the latter was in Nuclear Physics. I specialize in Radiopharmaceuticals... or in short, treatments that are radioactive.

And before you ask: because working with the atom is something of a Banner family tradition, and the only one worth keeping.

I specialized in criminal law, back when I thought it mattered.

I'm good with improvised weapons and prison escape.

But I learned to cook and bake on this thing.

[Barbara rests her chin on her hand, considering.]

I was a third degree black belt in karate, before I studied eskrima. My major was information science; minor was history. I'm technically a lawyer.

I was getting ready to join the Science Guild back home, when I graduated. [ It was sort of cut short by the whole planet exploding thing. ]

I didn't exactly have training, but I guess you could say I've got a specialty.

I have an M.S.W. with a focus on family conflict resolution but most of my experience is in working with immigrants and criminals. Why do you ask?

[Did someone say smartass?]

So, wait, I'm a little fuzzy on what the rules are. What makes combat okay and oh, say, burping the alphabet not an acceptable specialty?

I have an ability, if you're looking for that? I mean, is there a reason you're asking?
